Standard Blu-ray and 4K UHD are different
Do not buy software based only on the word “4K.” Playing a 4K video file is not the same as playing a commercial Ultra HD Blu-ray disc. PC UHD playback can depend on a narrow combination of software edition, optical drive, processor, graphics path, and display chain.
A sensible setup order
- Confirm the drive model and disc type.
- Install one player from its official source.
- Test a known-good disc with default audio and display settings.
- Change one setting at a time if playback fails.
When a dedicated player is simpler
If the goal is only to watch 4K discs on a television, a dedicated hardware player can be easier than maintaining a PC playback chain.
