Troubleshooting

Blu-ray Has No Sound

Missing audio usually comes from the selected track, output device, or receiver chain rather than the disc image itself.

Begin with a simple output

Select the computer speakers or television speakers first. A working simple output separates player problems from receiver and HDMI problems.

Check the selected track

Open the disc audio menu and choose a common track. Commentary, descriptive audio, and high-resolution tracks can behave differently.

PCM and bitstream

Use PCM when the computer should decode the audio. Use bitstream only when the receiving device supports the selected format and the complete output path passes it correctly.

Restore the chain gradually

After sound works, reconnect the receiver, soundbar, or secondary HDMI path one device at a time.
