The useful shortlist is small
Current 4K player recommendations still center on a limited set of Sony and Panasonic families. Many models are mature rather than newly redesigned.
Match the display first
Check Dolby Vision, HDR10+, television brightness, projector needs, and whether the player requires manual HDR switching. A feature that the display cannot use should not drive the purchase.
Check the audio chain
Confirm whether one or two HDMI outputs are needed and whether the receiver can pass the required video format. High-resolution audio support matters only when the rest of the chain supports it.
Why this site keeps hardware small
Hardware commissions are low and model innovation is limited. This page exists to complete the playback decision, not to build a large hardware affiliate catalogue.
